Dr. Abrams-Ogg received a BA degree in philosophy from the University of Alberta in 1976, and a DVM degree from the University of Saskatchewan in 1983. After 4 years in small animal practice in Edmonton he was a lecturer at the University of Saskatchewan for 1 year, and then entered a residency program in small animal internal medicine at the University of Guelph, receiving a DVSc degree in 1991 and becoming a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (Small Animal Internal Medicine) in 1993. He joined the faculty at the University of Guelph in 1991, where he is currently a professor in the Department of Clinical Studies. Dr. Abrams-Ogg’s chief clinical interests are in hematology, gastroenterology, and endocrinology. Current investigations are in antiplatelet drugs in cats with heart disease and dogs with hemolytic anemia, chronic anemia in cats, and bone marrow biopsy techniques; pancreatitis in dogs and cats; bronchoscopy in dogs and cats; and ACTH stimulation tests.
